“THEE VAPORIZER” ovrspliffes smash hits CD (ROBO001)
——————————————————–
So there are many oceans of sound, some undercurrents of digital ooze, yet others displaying a thorough half-hidden nostalgic peak at forgotten arcade history. Having popped pills and crystal meth till his pupils dropped since his previous endeavor on Jetlag, Thee Vaporizer crunches and slices together full grown crops of merciless jungle breakbeats, distortion, noise and orchestrated electronics, considerably rooted in hallucinogens, sleep deprivation, extremely hot Indian food and far out acid-raves. A sonic upheaval of rapidfire withering skeletal beats burned through surface-noise with vitality, which one associates with absorbing listen. “Ovrspliffed Smash Hits” rolls like a dystopian nightmare, resembling a shimmering and echoing puddle of digital uprock frenzied funkness while his hammered approach strips away flashes of cartoon virtuoso into an electronic potpourri. Providing enough space, shape and development to the robust brawl of funkloops, abstract uncoherent dialogues and concrete jungle riddims to throw a stick or two at. Whether the dysfunctional jumpcuts and absurd navigation of this onslaught will relieve tension and lower eyelids remains a mystery… assuming attack formation like a true bomberman with a desire for grotesque roleplay-game revenge is another option.

“SICKBOY” ganja bullet / worst trade central 7″ (ROBO003/BOT004)
————————————————————
The tradition of combining perversity and playfulness into a true soundclash has never left post-modern music alone, acting as culture vultures ramping their way through carcasses of crispy produced megabits to vigour sampling of smirky headlines. Sickboy has more than upped the ante with this hairsplitting slab of digitized breakestral chaos, never suggesting melodies or functional rhythms it draws from but juggling without remorse on the dividing line between acceptability and grimy flavoured cynism. Crucially it’s not the neglect of human consciousness, it’s the utter impulsive sheer excitement that blends in with a deliberate throwback of mostorted needle-sharping. Imagine a dedicated Manowar maniac with the ‘wimps & posers leave the hall’ principle, incarnated in a sparkling aural torturous display of mashed-up breakbeat galore. Gonna clear rooms quicker than a megaton fire alert, and sure to leave the patriotic-minded behind with a hammer smashed face. Music that’ll stir up any godforsaken industrial pigeonhole with a whirlwind…

“PERSONA” i keep on breaking you 7″ (BOT002)
————————————————-
Scrawled in crayon for ages, here’s the emotionally direct art out of scribbles that has rushed through the Detroit underground electronica scene in the past years. Having spent several months on teethgnarling and ankle surgery – Eric Cook decided to abandon the limitations of group affinities. Without surrendering his alternative wider shorelines, quickly noticing the amount of output was inversely proportional to the number of people involved in the project. Since then he’s kept on processing source sounds into glorious cacophony. The title-track centres around the contradictory nature of the guitar, where technology makes primitive wood and wire howl. The abrasive artificial hiccup sound explores multiple paths, creating a troubling almost chokelike atmosphere from a suspensful distressed blues riff, that shakes nostalgic hands with Cook’s tribute to the ill- conceived psych-blues of Muddy Waters and his musical past with groups as Bantam Rooster and Gravitar. His organic manipulations, filmic approach and hyperelectronic excursions into caffeine headaches have kept his music away from being morphed into a complete disorientated cliché. Not all caught up in smoke since he shakes studio hands briefly with His Name Is Alive’s Warn Defever. If it wasn’t agreed to walk and spin out weepily dancefloor expression, it would be a fairly accurate description of ecstatic torchlighting and ghosttalking. You weren’t listening… ? Yeah we’re all uptight about it…
