UPCOMING RELEASES:
Zod .06 Brodie Guy/ Dan Doormouse split 12″
Release date: 5/4/01
Side A: Brodie Guy
01: get with this (crakkdown)
02: nightdrive 5761
03: contrails
This Marks Brodies debut release under his self-named alias “Brodie Guy”. Brodie has earned a reputation for bringing a fresh dose of spontaneity, and punk attitude to the abstract electronic scene. These 3 tracks feature some nice warm melodies alongside devistatingly harsh beat programing. Tracks range from sheer energy to melow ambience; maintaining an atmospheric playground of somber melodies throughout.
Side B: Dan Doormouse
01: chocolate cream-filled half-truth
02: double-sided dead-end
Dan’s side encompasses some of his most interesting material to date. Making clever use of Percussion and Melodies sampled courtessy of his vintage vinyl collection, Dan‚s outdone himself once again. For those who enjoy Dan‚s hilarious creativity, and playfully comedic style; these 2 tracks are sure to be timeless favorites.

02: aeron barkum (seven dials)
03: luton (casino vs. japan)
description:
While introducing a host of new artists to the Zod roster, the 2nd compilation takes on a very new approach for the label. It displays a more subdued and atmospheric feel than anything we‚ve released previous. The focus is to display the differentiating visions of the artists there in, while highlighting their originality. The general feel of the material is minimalist, with selected elements of complexity. The two debut tracks from Banjo Math are minimalist in sound set and evolutional in arrangement, in contrast to pressboards’ circular, repetitive yet catchy style. Bathymetry by Topscore recordings’ Dartanjal also emphasizes minimalism and polyrythm. Gridlocks’ contribution is a bed of lush texture topped with the grinding breaks we know and love. Casino vs. Japan really caps this collection off with a down tempo moody masterpiece. With a comprehensive theme of diversity between artists that share a common medium, this compilation is sure to
stimulate.

Zod 09: Emotional Joystick 12″ EP2
release date: 5/4/02
side a
01: disfunked
02: rotterdam
03: the remington
side b
01: hardcore#1
02: moniker emporium
03: ignite
The second release from the zod debutante EmotionalJoystick proves to both compliment and challenge his first release. With a very solid sense of structure and a profound inclination for melody, This is the sort of EP you can listen to and completely loose yourself. Brilliantly constructed songs with an avant garde sound contrasted with an very accessible feel. We truly applaud the EmotionalJoystick’s second collection of songs.

Zod 11: EmotionalJoystick 7″ picture disc
(ltd 250 copies)
release date: 5/18/02
side a:
orange
(treated acoustic guitar, akgC3000 microphone and computer)
side b:
fingerhut
(african finger paino, akgC3000 microphone and computer)
Both tracks share the theme of acoustic instruments as the sole source material. The piece “orange” is composed of field recordings of an acoustic guitar, while “fingerhut” makes use of an african thumb piano. The sounds are generated through untraditional playing methods, such as striking with a drumstick, or rubbing with a wet cloth. This marks a very unique project for the Emothional Joystick, featuring original artwork by the man himself.
